皮脂厚度计用于美容院，体检中心，医院，学校等。
皮脂厚度计作用：通过测量皮下脂肪的厚度，不仅可以了解皮下脂肪的厚度，判断人的肥瘦情况，而且还可以用所测得的皮脂肪厚度推测全身的脂肪的数量，来评价人身组成的比例。这是评定人身组成简便的方法。
皮脂厚度计仪器的调整?—使用前须将圆盘内指针调整到圆盘刻度表上的“0”位。调整方法：用于转动调整“0”位盘即可将指针对准到“0”位。
皮脂厚度计测试程序
1、 受试者应着背心裤衩或短裤。

皮脂厚度计测定部位：
1） 上臀部—右上臂肩峰至桡骨头连线之中点，即肱三头肌腹部位。
2） 背部—右肩胛角下方。
3） 腹部—右腹部脐旁1cm。
除上述部位外，根据研究需要还可以测颈部、胸部、腰部、大腿前后侧和小腿腓肠肌部位。
应当指出：用皮脂计所测的皮下脂肪厚度是皮肤和皮下脂肪组织双倍的和。
 
皮脂厚度计体脂肪%的计算
应用Brozek（1963）改良公司计算体脂肪%，据认为Brozek改良公式计算体脂%是比较可靠的一种计算方法，该公式为：
身体脂肪%=（4.570÷身体密度－4.142）×100
身体脂肪重量=体重（公斤）×身体脂肪%
净体重（去脂体重）=体重（公斤）－体脂肪重（公斤）
